one more reason to go green

We took our son to the doctor’s office yesterday to determine the cause of his coughing and rash. It turns out that he has eczema and may also have asthma. His doctor wouldn’t diagnose him as asthmatic since he is so young but did give us the medication to try out on him. So it got me to thinking, what could be causing all of these problems and what can I do about it.

Is it something in the air that is triggering his coughing, is it the cleaning supplies we are using. Is he allergic to the laundry detergent we are using? Will he grow out of it or will he have problems for a lifetime?

So I am going to start replacing our cleaning products, laundry detergents and soaps with more eco-friendly items. This will be good for him, the family and the environment.

I just bought some Seventh Generation products from Whole Foods. I’ll let you know what I think.

i took the pledge at filterforgood.com today!

filterforgood.jpgI have gone to their site on many occasions and told myself I’ll take the pledge tomorrow, I still have water at home to drink, I don’t have a handy refillable water bottle yet. And so on and so on.

First I thought I’ll just get the Sigg bottle at Whole Foods, but they much more expensive then I imagined. To be honest I was a little nervous that the aluminum might make the water taste funny. Even though Sigg does claim that the inner-lining prevents any weird taste.

I decided on purchasing two 32 oz bottles from Nalgene Outdoor for $22.00. They have several different sizes and best of all you are promoting the Filter For Good pledge right on the bottle. Get yours today!

After I took the pledge I learned that by keeping my commitment to reducing bottled water waste I would save 1095 bottles each year from going to landfills and that just water I drink alone. I didn’t include my husband, daughter and son. Combined we probably consume about 6 bottles a day!

I’m so glad I took the pledge. Sign up and take the pledge today!

green the new BUZZ word

Every where we look nowadays we see and hear about going green. It’s a buzz word during award shows and even that stars are using it.

While Halle Berry was pregnant she was reported as saying that she wants a “green” nursery for her new baby. Now that her new baby is born I wonder if she did indeed go green.

Don’t get overwhelmed by doing a complete overhaul start off by making small changes, changes you know you’ll be able to stick to. But start now.

I just purchased one of my first eco-friendly shopping bags and whole foods and plan to get enough to use for grocery shopping.

Next on my list is to purchase reusable water bottles from filterforgood.com and eliminate the Arrowhead water bottles we buy from Costco every weekend. We are consuming nearly a case a week!

If we work together and make small changes, we may be able to save this planet.

Go green, now that’s hot!
